Key Requirements

Major Duties


  • Controls the manager’s appointments, answers telephones, and screens all calls and visitors.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements; prepares agendas and information for trips.
  • Reviews incoming correspondence and determines whether it should be brought to the manager’s attention or handled personally.
  • Conducts research projects and prepares reports; proofreads and edits correspondence/documents.
  • Screens publications, regulations, and directives which may be important to the office or members of the staff.
  • Completes travel (voucher/TRIP) requests on behalf of SAC.
  • Provides routine and/or complex administrative support to the SAC as needed.
  • Substitutes in the absence of the secretary to the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC).

Specialized Experience (SE):


GS 9: Applicants must possess one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 8 grade level, as defined below:

⦁    Reviewed correspondence to ensure conformance with format, grammar, and current policies and regulations.
⦁    Researched policies to provide advice on administrative procedures and requirements.
⦁    Gathered, organized, and maintained information on a variety of automated and/or manual systems.
⦁    Acted as a point-of-contact for internal and external personnel; assessing and addressing questions or conflicts and providing appropriate direction.

GS 10:  Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 09 level, as defined below:

⦁    Reviewed correspondence to ensure conformance with format, grammar, and current policies and regulations.
⦁    Offered guidance and clarification on all aspects of administrative policies and procedures.
⦁    Operated office automation applications, database systems, and other reporting tools to locate information and prepare reports, graphs, and presentations.
⦁    Served as a liaison between staff personnel, all levels of management, and outside entities; offering assistance and working to provide resolution to inquiries or conflicts.


Education


Education may not be substituted for Specialized Experience.

  • The FBI is in the Executive Branch of the federal government. It is one of the components of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The FBI is the principle investigative arm of the DOJ. All FBI positions are in the excepted service.

a. Percent of time worked in the particular position (cannot conflict with main duties)
b. The month/year work began
c. Frequency worked (i.e., daily, monthly, etc.)
d. Specific duties performed
