The shooting happened near the intersection of East 139th Street and Fifth Avenue at about 12:40 a.m., according to the NYPD on 20 Jun’22.

- Gunfire broke out in Harlem early Monday morning.
- Two women and seven men ranging in age from 21 to 42 were shot at about 12:40 a.m., according to the NYPD.
- Police initially said; they were enjoying a late-night gathering, two groups gunfire at each other.
“We just think it was a gathering, a barbecue, to that nature,” NYPD Deputy Chief Brian McGee said
- Nine people were shot and one is killed.

- Victims were hospitalized at local hospitals by EMS, and four other victims were hospitalized in area hospitals by private means.

- “This Father’s Day weekend is a weekend where people were supposed to be able to enjoy themselves with their families,” Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a news conference.
- The shooting appeared to have happened at a barbecue or another social gathering, according to McGee.
